Plane Power Alternator up grade
Plane Power Alternator, generator out Alternator in. This is a great up grade, not to bad to install but one the gotchas was the bolt that held the bar that supports the generator is long and will not come out because of the fire wall, I had to put a hole in the fire wall in order to get it out the only other option is to un bolt the engine from the fire wall. The other gotcha is that the new bracket sits under a engine through bolt and in order to properly re torque this bolt you must torque both sides of the bolt, this requires the removal of baffling and takes lots of time. The rest of the install goes easy. I found that the field switch ran through the alternator switch so the plane power switch requires a 5 am circuit breaker to keep things easy I just mounted the CB on the fire wall. I also made a back plate for the regulator so I could use the existing regulator mounting holes.
