It was a good trip and the weather was good all the way to the Alaska border. Be sure to call Customs at Northway 2 hours before you arrive, and remember that there is a time change, I took off from Beaver Creek to land in Northway at 9 but I really got there at 8. Customs at Northway only work from 9 to 3. I found the Cub driver waiting for me when I landed, he had landed in Northway the day before with no Customs, not a good thing. We finally got things straightened out, it turns out we had called Anchorage and it was Anchorage that had given us the ok to land at Northway. What should have happened is Anchorage should have told us to call Northway, so the way we figured it when the Anchorage customs figured out that he made a mistake he called Whitehorse to tell us not to land in Northway but Whitehorse only was able to contact me. Needless to say, it took some time looking at my cell phone and the calls we made to figure all this out. Northway weather was good and I could see the mountains so then I took off for Tok where I picked up fuel. It was raining hard and the ceilings were low so I quickly fueled up went back to Northway and flew Nebesna pass over to Gulkana then squeezed through another pass called Tahneta, down the Matanuska Valley to Anchorage. I think about 13 hours total flight time. My plane flew great. Now I am doing the annual on my Beaver and making sure that it is in good shape before I head to the lodge in about a week. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a 180 or a 185.
